Secret-Sight

Come Soviet Soviet e Be Forest, anche i Secret Sight appartengono allo Stato Pontificio post-punk. Facile distinguerli, per fortuna: meno nervi scoperti rispetto ai primi, niente amore per i Cure dei secondi, sguardo spostato verso le rimasticazioni moderne dell’epoca più saccheggiata degli ultimi quindici anni, con un po’ di cassa dritta che non guasta mai. Day.Night.Life, uscito per Red Cat Records, per capirsi, è una specie di revival del revival, nel senso che paradossalmente vien da pensare a Interpol ed Editors e non agli anni Ottanta. La voce è molto ok, la pronuncia un po’ meno, la sezione ritmica – come accennavo – coinvolgente e la chitarra fende i pezzi come da manuale. Forse non avranno il tiro dei Beastmilk, però pezzi come “Earth Overflows” e “Under This Truth” fanno la loro onestissima corsa. Il problema, d’altra parte, resta sempre lo stesso: “Everything I say has come before”, direbbe Trent Reznor.
