Un po’ come molte operazioni di recupero di marca Drag City, la Music à la Coque ci recapita – dopo averla scovata nei meandri degli anni Ottanta – l’opera realizzata da Pierre Bastien e Bernard Provus, pubblicata, ai tempi, su nastro dalla storica ADN. Incrocio di polluzioni meccaniche tra strumenti classici ed altri più esotici (fedelmente riportati tra le note del digipack), Superstitions ci regala emozioni ritmico/avant tipiche di determinati esperimenti freak-punk. Come dei Sun City Girls (o Half Japanese) guidati da foga no wave e pulsioni afrocentriche, i due si perdono in divagazioni che stritolano e ammaliano, mentre le corde stridono, ricoperte da slavine di rintocchi ritmici, guidate da una creatività devotamente innamorata di dissonanze e spirito improv. Tutto rigorosamente realizzato senza strumentazioni elettroniche. L’edizione qui recensita comprende anche “Alpinic Railway”, pezzo non incluso nella cassetta ADN. Di quell’abrasivo che è salvifico.
