FEN FEN, Fen Fen

Quando si dice Detroit, almeno in ambito garage-rock, si sa subito dove si va a parare: Stooges, MC5, Destroy All Monsters, White Stripes, Epileptix, The Piranhas, Human Eye, Tyvek e chi ne ha più ne metta; i Fen Fen sono solo l’ultima manifestazione di un demone che infesta la città da sessant’anni e che ha finito con l’aggiungere il suo nome alla storia universale del rock. Sono un quartetto che esordisce per la concittadina Painters Tapes, rigorosamente su cassetta, e fa propria la lezione dei numi sopracitati, non rinunciando a recrudescenze noise e a brutture hardcore, per sette brani che vanno via in meno di mezz’ora: impossibile non avvertire la botta di tirate grette come “Bad Taste” e “Diplomacy Died” o resistere al punk-rock quadrato di “Borscht” e “Abi” e a muri di noise-rock come “F.E.N.F.E.N.”. Garage-punk che riga dritto e mostra i muscoli, sul costante filo del rasoio: ancora una volta segnali di vita promettenti da una delle capitali della musica statunitense.
