Alva Noto con Martin Gore e William Basinski: “Subterraneans” (David Bowie)

NOTON ha appena pubblicato Subterraneans, ep collaborativo tra Alva Noto, Martin Gore (alla voce) e William Basinski (al sax), incentrato sul pezzo di Bowie.

Dice il comunicato stampa: “Registrata nel 1975 “Subterraneans” è la chiusura di Low (1977). Inizialmente avrebbe dovuto essere parte del famosissimo “The Man Who Fell to Earth”, con Bowie inevitabilmente nella parte dell’alieno.

Dichiara Alva Noto: “Sono legato al pezzo personalmente, perché fu registrato a Berlino Oves all’Hansa Studio. Secondo Bowie, si riferiva a chi era rimasto a Berlino Est dopo la costruzione del muro. Nel ’77 avevo dodici anni e vivevo tra quei sotterranei evocati dal pezzo. Trova ancora adesso eco in me, 45 anni dopo”.
