In Our Heads

Considerati sciamani o “peracottari” a seconda dell’apprezzamento del tutto personale per il synth pop mischiato a (più che) influenze techno, stavolta gli Hot Chip si confermano a metà strada tra l’interessante e il furbo. Di base, però, è evidente l’amore per le sonorità di Detroit, dissimulato da una passione per le rotondità pop, sincere e, soprattutto, divertite e divertenti. Non mancano, inoltre, suonelli da retromania (quasi d’obbligo, in un certo senso). Qualche minuto in meno avrebbe giovato, ciononostante In Our Heads è molto piacevole e vanta anche ballate à la Beatles, come “Now There Is Nothing”, che spezzano il ritmo e permettono di apprezzare ancora meglio quanto di buono c’è. Considerandolo sulla lunga distanza, il disco avrebbe meritato più interesse e hype, anche rispetto a prove passate degli Hot Chip. Così non è stato (o quasi), ma è un classico dell’universo musicale e sarà sicuramente arrivato al meglio a chi li ha apprezzati in tempi non sospetti.
